A very belated thank you to everyone that helped us with the Saveur Holiday Social. Special thanks to Kristin Magnani and Kate Kudish of Saveur who organized everything from setting us up with a table to sell our books to setting up our class at the end of the night to teach about Brooklyn spirits. Thank you to a true Brooklyn spirit, John Quinn who came from Brooklyn to work our table for an hour while we were in the class. Thanks also to Brooklyn spirit-maker, Bridget Firtle of Owney’s rum, for stopping by our table for a few hours and answering questions about her rum and the local spirits scene in general.
One of the reasons we were eager to do this event was we knew that Saveur would attract a great crowd, and they didn’t disappoint. All day long we met terrific people at our table who wanted to talk about cocktails and Brooklyn bars, and some even bought the book!
The biggest thanks goes to Will Noland, bartender extraordinaire of Sidecar Brooklyn. Will came up with and perfected 4 holiday themed cocktails using Brooklyn spirits to teach to our class of 20 at the end of the night. The class was supposed to run from 6:15-7pm, but Will was still pouring close to 8 pm! Ironically, he almost didn’t get there at all. Will got stuck behind the protest on the wrong side of Broadway. But that’s for another post.
We’ll also be posting all of the recipes from the class too. So keep checking in.
If you took any pictures from the class, please forward them at all.
